Special instructions
Special finishes need artwork that shows both the printed design and where the effect belongs. Confirm the setup for your selected product before sending final files.
Raised UV artwork
- Prepare the full-color artwork at the ordered size with the required bleed.
- Create a separate coating mask at the same size and alignment. Use solid black for areas intended to receive the coating, with no gradients or shadows in the mask.
- Keep the mask clear of trim edges, folds and fine details unless the product instructions explicitly allow them. Ask us to confirm minimum detail and spacing for your finish.
- Export to an accepted upload format, label the artwork and mask by side, and check both on the proof.
Raised foil artwork
Supply the printed design and a separate, clearly named foil mask using matching dimensions. Use solid areas for the foil placement and leave enough space between details for a clean result.
For multiple foil colors or levels, ask us how to separate the masks before export. The finish options on your order and its approved proof determine what will be produced.
Exporting from design software
- Illustrator: keep a working copy with editable text; outline fonts in your delivery copy and export the art and mask separately.
- Photoshop: work at final size and adequate resolution; export the design and the aligned mask without visible guides.
- InDesign: embed fonts and placed images in the exported PDF; confirm that page sizes and mask positions match.
Large files and extra instructions
Use clear names such as order-front.pdf, order-back.pdf and order-front-foil.pdf. Include your order number when contacting us about files.
If the upload cannot handle your file, contact us to arrange a suitable transfer. Explain the requested finish or handling before proof approval; a message alone does not change the options purchased on an order.
