- More Info:
- Envelope die cuts can shift by up to 1/16 inch. Keep important content away from cut edges, folds and seams.
- Pair envelopes with letterheads on 70 lb. Opaque Smooth White for consistent stationery. This uncoated stock is writable; non-window styles are suitable for laser and inkjet printers.
- Large areas of dense, dark ink can affect drying and handling on absorbent paper. Ask our team to review heavy backgrounds before you approve the proof.
- Use the confirmed envelope layout to position artwork. Keep glue areas and any marked no-ink zones clear; leave the window, recipient address and postage areas unobstructed.
- 70 lb. / 5 pt. Opaque Smooth White:
- Bright white, smooth, uncoated and writable.
- Printer compatibility:
- Non-window envelopes are suitable for laser and inkjet printers.
- Thickness:
- 70 lb. weight / approximately 5 pt. thickness.
A smooth uncoated paper gives your envelopes a clean finish and coordinates with matching letterheads.
- Bleed:
- Extend backgrounds 0.125 inch past trim. Custom envelopes print flat with full bleed before assembly; keep marked glue zones free of ink.
- Safe zone:
- Keep text and logos at least 0.125" inside trim lines, and clear of folds, seams, glue areas and window openings. Follow any larger safe areas in your confirmed layout.
- Resolution:
- 350 dpi at the final printed size.
- Color Mode:
- CMYK. Check brand colors and large dark backgrounds in the proof.
- File Formats:
- PDF preferred; PNG, JPG and TIFF also accepted. Embed or outline fonts in PDF files and flatten transparency where needed.
- Panels and folds:
- Use the layout for the exact size and envelope style. Confirm panel orientation, flap position, window placement and no-ink glue zones. Do not add cut or fold guides to the printable artwork.
- Printed sides:
- Provide clearly labeled outside and inside artwork for two-sided orders. Use the production layout to align flaps, panels and folds.
- Instant online proof:
- Inspect the preview carefully before approving it; self-approved artwork does not receive an additional proof.
- Manual PDF proof:
- Request a manual file check and PDF proof from our team. One uploaded file set and one proof are included; corrections can affect production timing. Check order progress in your account.
- Proof review:
- Review the digital proof for spelling, addresses, panel orientation and artwork placement before approving production. File corrections can affect the schedule.
Request the setup layout for your selected size and style before creating artwork. A window envelope needs a different layout from a standard envelope of the same size. Our free design examples provide inspiration; use Design Services to request help adapting a look for your business.
Choose A-1, A-2, A-4, A-6 or A-7 invitations and announcements; 3.625" x 6.5" remittance with long or short flap; #9 commercial with or without a window; #10 standard with or without a window or Universal; and horizontal booklet or vertical catalog envelopes in 6" x 9", 6.5" x 9.5", 9" x 12" or 10" x 13". A-9 and A-10 are also retained in our catalog.
Build artwork at final size with the required bleed and safe zones. Keep glue zones clear, remove template guides from the print file, and embed or outline fonts. Use a print-ready PDF or a flattened PNG, JPG or TIFF at 350 dpi in CMYK. See File Setup for envelope-specific guidance, or request design help.
